Powerful. Authentic. Honest.
Paige, one of our Teen Identity team members, is back to share what she wants her life to be, what gives her confidence and what worries her. Listen in to the heart of a beautiful young teen girl…
IN HER OWN WORDS
What I Want My Life to Be
I want to have a life that actually makes a difference in other people’s lives. I don’t want to take my last breath and realize I made no impact on anything or anyone in this Earth. I’m not sure exactly what I want to do when I grow up, but I do know I want it to be some kind of ministry. I don’t want a normal job in an office or with a business; I want a job that involves me out in the world helping other people.
I want to have a life that I love…
and that means a life of helping others.
What Gives Me Confidence
Sometimes when I’m walking around in the halls at my HUGE school I can feel a little insecure, and honestly something that helps me a lot is I start singing Christian songs in my head that give me confidence. God loves me just how I am, I mean He created me to be just how He wanted me to be and why should my or anyone else’s opinion about myself matter if He created me just how He wanted? And I also remember what Jesus had to go through when he was humiliated in front of people.
I remind myself that I’m loved and I’m unique.
And after all, in 10 years I’m never gonna see most of the thousands of kids I see at my school everyday!
What I Worry About Most
Honestly I worry about someone close to me dying… I’ve never lost someone I’m close to, and I just can’t even imagine it. I know everyone has to die someday, but the thought of never getting to talk to someone again scares me a little bit. I just have to remind myself that they’re just leaving this temporary earth but their souls are living for eternity.
How I Encourage My Friends
I just let them know that I’m always there for them, and things will get better. If I can relate their problems to any that I’ve ever had then I use myself as an example to show them how to get through certain things. We all go through rough times because it’s part of being human, but life is going to get better over time.. It can’t stay bad forever. And anything is possible with God so I remind them to pray about it and have faith that God can get you through anything!
What I Learned from Teen Identity
I’ve learned to just be me.
Every girl is beautiful in her own way.
We don’t need to compare ourselves to famous magazine models or famous actresses, we just need to be ourselves. We each have our own strengths and weaknesses, and we are each unique in our own special way. I think it’s amazing how God created each of us so different.
I can’t imagine how boring life would be if everyone thought the same or liked/disliked the same things. We need to stop trying to be like everyone else and enjoy the fact that we are each original and there could never be a more beautiful us.
More images and stories coming over the next few weeks from our latest Teen Identity team photo shoot… where we empower and inspire girls to unleash their true beauty, find their voice, and change their world… forever.
