My favorite lines in the faux commercial:

Introducing the next revolution in beauty…

Get ready to experience a whole new you…

It’s you, perfected.

Transform your look the way celebrities do with this beauty industry secret that’s available now for the first time ever…

Finally look the way you’ve always dreamed.

You don’t have to rely on a healthy body image or self respect anymore.

Maybe she’s born with it… ah, no. I’m pretty sure it’s Fotoshop.

Tell me what YOU think!

I love this! I found it funny and sadly spot on. However, I think that minor adjustments in PS are okay. Getting rid of blemishes or softening skin while still looking realistic is acceptable. I’ve never used the liquify tool, I don’t even know how. I think the real problem is the unrealistic expectations placed on body image, not the erasing of a few zits or wrinkles. Just my $.02. :)

I agree too Danielle! I think making people look and feel good in their own skin with enhancement is a positive thing… the same way that makeup and beauty can enhance natural beauty. It’s when it’s taken to the level that is unrealistic… plastic… flawless. Thanks for stopping by!

That was great! I get rid of blemishes and will soften wrinkles if asked but I don’t use liquify. I tried once but couldn’t figure it out. I had the weirdest shapes!
Here’s another question though. When I go to Photography conferences, someone or everyone will use models for a class or setting up a mock shoot so we can practice. Most of the models already look really good and are always young and skinny. Not that I’m volunteering, but I’d love to go somewhere and see an older woman or man with gray hairs, a little too much girth, the wrinkles they’ve earned over the years – you get my drift. How am I supposed to REALLY learn to light someone for a portrait that makes them look normal but nice if all I’m practicing on are younger people? Just something I think of now and then as I move ever closer to the 60 year old mark.
Thanks for sharing “Fotoshop” with us!

Wow, so telling! People have been saying this for years, but Jesse did an awesome job at making a captivating spoof that people will want to pass on!

A great way to show students how Adobe is used in the real word of fashion and beauty.

I laughed out loud when they said, “Even adjust your race.” couldn’t help it.

    Thanks Zeena! We did too!

That was kinda funny. It wasn’t until I saw it the second time that I saw the slider underneath the photo that said “Caucasian.” :)

Brilliant. Like I always say, a photo can look like it was taken in the best light on the person’s best skin day but it should still be their body, their face, eyes and all of that. Agree with all the comments on the unrealistic level that it is taken…that’s too far.

  • http://tasramar.com/ tasra

Absolutely. Love the way you describe it with “best light on best skin day.” Probably should have stated that I don’t think Adobe or Photoshop are the problem. They’re amazing when they’re used to enhance, not dramatically alter beyond recognition. :)

Brilliant…! Love it…..! A couple of TV Stars got out of the transport SUV looking like hag-bags at 5:30 am. Two and a half hours later – beauty queens thanx to hair/makeup and costumes. Real coyote ugly then Shazam….ready for their closeups.

Thanks Harry! Amazing what can be done today! Imagine 10 years from now…
