Female Visionaries of the Past and Present

Guest post by Reagan Zugelter, co-founder of POSH 2010, an inspirational and educational cruise for women only.

“How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!”
—Maya Angelou

This quote really rang true for us as we started talking about women in the visual arts industry. We discussed how we want more women to come to the forefront as leaders or “she-roes” as Maya Angelou says. We want them to lead not only for their creativity and craft but for being successful business owners too.

Female Leaders & Visionaries of the Past

After Kathryn Bigelow won the Oscar for Best Director of “The Hurt Locker,” the first woman to win this prestigious award, we felt now was the perfect time to create the first ever event for women in the event filmmaking industry and photographers interested in event film. Our vision is to celebrate and recognize talented women visual artists around the world. Not only are we producing a retreat and educational experience for women only but we also are featuring female filmmakers biweekly on our blog. We also have plans for female guest bloggers as well.

POSH was formed to connect, educate and inspire women. POSH 2010 is November 8-12 on a cruise in the Bahamas. We have three presenters Kristen* of Bliss* Productions, Tasra Dawson of Dare Dreamer Media (that’s me!) and Jessica Roman of Ray Roman Films that are covering various topics from business to composition and post-production. There are also some intimate group discussions with moderators and attendees so everyone will have a chance to share their experiences and learn from each other.

Female Leaders & Visionaries of the POSH Event

Big plans are in the works for a creative shoot on a private island in the Bahamas that is going to be very inspiring utilizing HD DSLR’s, Super 8 & 16mm cameras and other fun toys.

Of course we are going to throw in a little R&R on the ship because what woman doesn’t need a little downtime to regroup and refocus especially at the end of a busy year.

If you want to have a chance to not only learn from some amazing women but to also connect and share with other women in the visual artists then you don’t want to miss this unique event. Anyone that registers by April 30 has a chance to win a $100 onboard cruise credit. For more info or to register visit POSH Event 2010.
