What does that mean to you?
It’s a statement that came out of a mastermind phone call with my friend and colleague Donna Maria of Indie Business fame. After posting the statement and question on Twitter yesterday, I received some interesting responses.
Power of positive thinking. If you believe you can achieve. Not always easy though! (via @scottnickell)
It’s all about self motivation…not enough & I can’t get out of bed. Too much & I scare people off…moderation is good. (via @Csmoferret)
There is nothing I can’t accomplish & nothing I can’t achieve…if I set my mind to it, work through the struggles & persevere. (via @Kaymeephoto)
You have the capability to cure whatever ails you or you can totally F yourself up. OR you can enhance yourself and be amazing. (via @NatLightPhoto)

Here’s what “You are your own miracle drug,” means to me…
- It’s about embracing your uniqueness as an individual rather than relying on someone else’s workshop or training.
- It’s about liberating your creativity and celebrating what you offer the world, instead of copying someone else’s brand or style.
- We’re each gifted with such a vast array of abilities and personalities that alone will set you apart and ultimately lead to your success.

This seems to be the prevailing message of the day… from Dane Sanders to his Fast Track photographers, from Jasmine Star in her Just Be You workshop at WPPI, from Gary Vaynerchuck in his book Crush It!, and even from Seth Godin in Linchpin. And of course from me, I’ve been beating this drum since I wrote my first book for busy creative women!
Today is about embracing who you are and acknowledging that YOU matter, not just your technical skill and expertise, your business acumen and marketing prowess, but YOU. Once we begin to embrace that, competition and comparison will fade as we begin to value ourselves and each other for the unique and brilliant individuals we are.
When we do that, we’ll confidently rely on the gift we’ve been given rather than looking for a miracle drug to cure everything that ails us.
