I love my job. Even though I barely slept at all last night, I woke up excited for today’s Teen Identity senior photo shoot… twin sisters.
Twin Fascination
Twins are a fascination. My best friend in high school was a twin, but you wouldn’t have ever known by looking at or spending time with them. They were very different. My cousins are twins too and when they were younger I could barely tell them apart. It wasn’t until we lived with them for a year that I finally began to see just how different they really are.
Seeing Double
So today I got to spend the afternoon with two twin sisters, beautiful girls inside and out. When we first met, I admit that I had a hard time telling them apart, but within the first few minutes of the photo shoot, it was so clear to me, as much as if they were only sisters, instead of mirror twins. I was no longer seeing double, but instead seeing each of them for who they are as individuals.
The differences were clear not only outwardly, but in personality as well. Since my vision is to unleash the true beauty in every teen girl, my goal today was to be able to illustrate their differences in their images. But I, along with the girls and their mother, also wanted to show the special connection they have as sisters and twins…. how they make one another laugh hysterically with just one look.
I’m so thrilled with how their images together and apart turned out and even more honored that I got to spend my Saturday doing what I love with my photography for two amazing seniors.
Image Setup: For the shoot today, I changed up the lighting to bring out different aspects of each girl’s personality. I’ll post specific info and comparisons in the next week with details about what and why I chose to light each frame. Primarily used 50 mm and 28-80 mm lenses, Westcott light kit, 5-in-1 photo reflector kit, white seamless and black drape portrait backgrounds, ISO 200-400.
