Today I’m delighted to feature Ken and Jamie Worley of Worley Arts. I met Ken at a PUG meeting in Atlanta (but actually didn’t remember until later), and then Ken and I got to know each other through my tasra365 challenge. So much so that our families shared dinner over the holidays!
His Unique Take on Photography
One of my favorite things that Ken and his wife Jamie do are their recreations of old movie posters. I think it is absolutely some of his best work and it is such a unique and fun idea. (Scroll down to see Ken and his wife in a Gone With the Wind movie poster!)

In His Own Words
Ken took the time to write in about his experience so far with the challenge. I know you’ll find it inspiring!
My wife Jamie, and I love creating photographs, and we are blessed to be able to work together as wedding photographers. We challenge ourselves – and each other – to constantly keep growing and learning.
In theory, a person becomes a “master” at something after they have put 10,000 hours into it. I am not a true master at anything (yet!), and I aim to always keep learning, but doing at least one photo a day, every day, is a great way to achieve that goal.
In October of 2009, I came across Tasra’s 365 Challenge. I had finished a self-imposed “Photograph a Day” challenge about five months earlier on my blog. What made Tasra’s 365 Challenge different from mine was the two additional parts of the challenge: reading the manual, and viewing others’ work for inspiration.
I’ve viewed at least 104 different photographers’ work already as part of Tasra’s challenge, and I’ve read a great deal of my camera manual. I’ve heard so many photographers say that to improve you must look at other’s work, and this challenge has helped me to keep doing that. One of the keys to keep in mind when looking at other’s work is not to rush through their photos. Really study the photos, look at the lighting, and the camera angle. Also, keep in mind that this is not about copying their style; keep your own style, but allow yourself to be challenged by another perspective.

Special Thanks & An Invitation
Thanks to Ken and Jamie for sharing their story. It’s always inspiring to me to see how others are learning from and growing through the challenge. If you’d like to be featured, just send an email with your story and some of your favorite images to tasra (at) tasramar (dot) com.
