D89: It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like…

Christmas! The lights are up, the trees are lit, the Starbucks cups are red. Until today, it didn’t seem like the Christmas season had arrived. But after a trip to the Georgia Mall, I’m convinced that the season has arrived.

Nothing says Christmas like strings of beautiful lights. I have a feeling many of the days to follow are going to be filled with sights of the holidays. What a wonderful way to capture the season with a photo every day. I have a hunch that it will seem to be one of the most beautiful ever. Not because it objectively may be, but because I’m paying attention.

Today’s images are from a light-covered gazebo outside the Georgia Mall and a set of Christmas trees next to Santa inside the mall. Very little post processing, just a bump in saturation and blacks.

Specs: Nikon D50, 50mm lens, ISO 400 (inside), ISo 1600 (outside), 1/100 @ f/1.8

Manual: Page 82—ISO.

Images: Enjoyed a relaxing night browsing books in Barnes and Noble. The three I looked through were:

- Little People in the City: The Street Art of Slinkachu D89: It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like...
- Wise Women: A Celebration of Their Insights, Courage, and Beauty D89: It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like...
- Photowisdom: Master Photographers and Their Art D89: It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like...

I’m putting the latter two books on my Christmas wish list. I loved them. If you’re a woman photographer, you should definitely check out Wise Women. If you’re an aspiring photographer wanting to learn the masters, you should consider Photowisdom. It not only includes images, but also advice from the masters as well.

Beautiful abstract images today. I'm looking forward to this season for the same reason. I'm paying attention, so who knows what I'll see and capture.

    Wow, nice photos!
I'm almost envious, I'll have to wait until the eight of december to take photos of Christmas lights. Christmas doesn't begin here until that date, when Mary's virginity is celebrated. Only then people set up trees, lights and Christmas stuff.
