Today was full of action… felt like I was taking on the world.
In a way I was—taking on a fear (going to NY on my own) and taking the shots I wanted. Started out early with a walk from my hotel to Lincoln Center and Julliard, then around Central Park, down 5th Ave to the MOMA. Absolutely awe-struck by what I saw at the MOMA. Such creativity in so many different genres.

Then I met a long lost friend from elementary school at the MET. I hadn’t seen her since 7th grade when our family moved out of state. Thanks to the wonder of Facebook we were reconnected earlier this year. And now, we’ve been reunited! We spent the afternoon enjoying the MET together and catching up on twenty years.
The sheer genius of creativity expressed in countless forms at the MET was staggering. From the Egyptian temple and Japanese costumes, to the African headresses and European art, people past and present have such an unparalleled imagination for brilliance, vision, and innovation. I was inspired.
My favorite exhibit was photographer Robert Frank’s The Americans. Here’s a description of the exhibit:
This exhibition celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of The Americans, Robert Frank’s influential suite of black-and-white photographs made on a cross-country road trip in 1955–56. Although Frank’s depiction of American life was criticized when the book was released in the U.S. in 1959, it soon became recognized as a masterpiece of street photography. Born in Switzerland in 1924, Frank is considered one of the great living masters of photography. The exhibition will feature all 83 photographs published in The Americans and will be the first time that this body of work is presented to a New York audience. In addition, the exhibition includes contact sheets that Frank used to create the book; earlier photographs made in Europe, Peru, and New York; a short film by the artist on his life; and his later re-use of iconic images from the series.
Post Processing: For the above image, I created my own Lightroom Action! I was working on the image and had a vision for how I wanted it to look. Once I got the look, I figured out how to create my own action and called it Silver BWC. What do you think?
Manual: Page 50—Restoring Default Settings. Now that I actually have some custom settings created, I don’t think I’ll use this feature again.
Images: I certainly had that covered today. In fact, I’m wondering if today can count double or triple. Seriously, I looked at enough imagery and photographs today to count for at least a couple days, right?
