Finished in one day!
Wondering what it was? You won’t believe it, but I finished an entire book in one day this past weekend. It’s billed as a thriller and I’m normally not a thrill seeker, but this book had me riveted.¬†

Here’s a short intro to the story:
Her sister had vanished, trapped in a human slavery ring. To find her, FSB agent Yanna Andrevka arranged her own kidnapping into Taiwan’s sex-trafficking trade. And found herself with no way out.
Until Yanna discovered an ally deep undercover: Delta Force captain David Curtiss. He was after the kingpin of the Twin Serpents, the organized crime syndicate that had Yanna—and hundreds of others—in their clutches.
With opposite agendas, David and Yanna had to rely on each other to outwit their cold-blooded enemy.
This is what Susan said about her inspiration:
Did you know that there are 27 million people around the globe held as slaves today—more than 80% of them women and children, and up to 50% minors. In fact, there are MORE slaves today than there were in the time of William Wilberforce. That leaves me horrified, and it was those stats that compelled me to write a story with a human trafficking plotline.
This is book 3 in this series, so I can now go back and catch up on the first two that I missed. However, I wouldn’t have even known it was a series because it definitely can stand alone. This book is a great story with a big heart. It was inspired by Susan’s experience as a missionary in Russia. She learned more than she probably wanted to about slavery and human trafficking in that area.
Not only did she write the book, but she is also donating 15% of the books royalties to the International Justice Mission who works to eradicate human trafficking in areas like Russia. Just another reason to pick up a copy of this book from your favorite bookstore. The book is written from the point of view of the rescuers, not the victims, and offers hope and empowerment, instead of feelings of helplessness. This was an important piece to me because I was a little nervous about being exposed to too much detail about the human trafficking.
