Would you consider yourself daring? I used to. In high school, I was voted as the most daring person on my dance team. In college, I did a backward swan dive off a bunjee jump. Pretty daring feats if you ask me.
So, let me ask you…do you dare to wear white?
Have you heard of the Dare to Wear White website and campaign? When I first heard about it, I was completely in the dark as most women are. The more I learned, the more I was shocked by the statistics…an issue that affects 10 million women and no one is talking about it. I knew I had to share this with you.
Dare to Wear White is a website where you can learn more about this issue that affects 1 in 5 women.
This is what I’ve learned…
As women and moms, we talk about everything! Well, almost everything. One topic that still tends to be taboo is the subject of heavy periods. According to the National Women’s Health Resource Center, 1 in 5 women and 1 in 3 Baby Boomers experience heavy periods-that’s about 10 million women in the U.S. alone! Mom Central recently surveyed more than 1,300
“everyday moms” who indicated they have heavy periods and discovered some astounding insights:
- 75% of women reported that their heavy periods negatively impact their quality of life by disrupting their family and social life, regular activities, and moods.
- Almost 60% said that their periods negatively affect their sexual relationships.
- And what’s worse, more than 50% of women with heavy periods said that they dread leaving the house on their worst days.
Does this sound familiar to you or like someone you know?
There are solutions and you can read about them on the Dare to Wear White website. I encourage you to just take a moment. It will give you some ideas of what to talk with your doctor about if you do have concerns.
